Spanish Relay
Spanish TTY Relay Service is for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech disabled who wish to communicate in Spanish (through text or voice) with a hearing person who uses a standard telephone.
Below are descriptions and directions for placing different types of Spanish TTY relay calls. Please note that Spanish relay calls are only available in Spanish-to-Spanish. (The state of Virginia offers Spanish-to-English.)
To reach a Relay Center and ask for Spanish Relay:
- Dial 711 for text or voice calls.
- Notify the Communications Assistant that answers your call that you wish to use Spanish Relay.
- The Communications Assistant will transfer your call to a dedicated Spanish-speaking Communications Assistant.
- Let the Communications Assistant know what type of call you wish to make: Standard TTY Relay, VCO Relay or HCO Relay.
- Refer to the appropriate section for step-by-step instructions.
To reach a Spanish Relay Communications Assistant directly:
- Dial 1-800-855-2884 (TTY) or 1-800-855-2885 (Voice).
- You will connect directly to a Spanish-speaking Communications Assistant.
- Let the Communications Assistant know what type of call you wish to make: Standard TTY Relay, VCO Relay or HCO Relay.
- Refer to the appropriate section for step-by-step instructions.
