Spanish TTY Relay Service is for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech disabled who wish to communicate in Spanish (through text or voice) with a hearing person who uses a standard telephone.

Below are descriptions and directions for placing different types of Spanish TTY relay calls. Please note that Spanish relay calls are only available in Spanish-to-Spanish. (The state of Virginia offers Spanish-to-English.)

To reach a Relay Center and ask for Spanish Relay:


  1. Dial 711 for text or voice calls.
  2. Notify the Communications Assistant that answers your call that you wish to use Spanish Relay.
  3. The Communications Assistant will transfer your call to a dedicated Spanish-speaking Communications     Assistant.
  4. Let the Communications Assistant know what type of call you wish to make: Standard TTY Relay, VCO     Relay or HCO Relay.
  5. Refer to the appropriate section for step-by-step instructions.

To reach a Spanish Relay Communications Assistant directly:


  1. Dial 1-800-855-2884 (TTY) or 1-800-855-2885 (Voice).
  2. You will connect directly to a Spanish-speaking Communications Assistant.
  3. Let the Communications Assistant know what type of call you wish to make: Standard TTY Relay, VCO     Relay or HCO Relay.
  4. Refer to the appropriate section for step-by-step instructions.
