How to Make a Call
Steps to Make a Video Relay Call
- Type the area code and telephone number and then click the “Dial Now” button.
- A series of text fields will pop up for you to fill in. Complete them to the best of your ability.
- When you have completed the fields, a Video Interpreter will appear in the upper right video box labeled “Agent,” and you will appear in the lower right video box, labeled “Caller.” If no images appear, click the “Play” buttons.
- The Video Interpreter will place your call. When the line is answered, the Video Interpreter will sign the person’s greeting, then wait for you to reply.
- Communicate by signing into your web-cam. The Video Interpreter will relay your message in speech, then receive a reply and relay it back to you in sign language.
- Continue this process throughout the duration of your call. When you are ready to end your call, sign “goodbye” or a similar closing then click the “Hang Up” button.
Make a 911 Call using VRS
- Enter 911 in the “Number to Dial” field.
- Your call will be given priority and sent to the first available interpreter.
- State the nature of your emergency.
- Provide your physical location, if different from your registered location on file.
