Choose a Question about TTY Relay

If you fill out the Relay Choice Profile e-form, it will enable us to speed up your call. If you need help with this e-form, please contact our National Customer Care Center at 800-682-8786 (TTY) or 800-682-8706 (Voice) or 888-288-2184 (Fax). All the information you provide will be kept confidential.
VCO (Voice Carry Over) is great for TTY and VCO users who want to speak for themselves. To make a call, VCO users should first type the number they want to call. When the Communications Assistant comes on the line, the VCO user can speak. The Communications Assistant then types the standard telephone user’s responses back to the VCO user. VCO is activated automatically on all AT&T Relay calls for users who complete a Relay Choice Profile and select VCO.
A person who is deaf-blind can make phone calls using Telebraille equipment. Relay users with impaired vision often use special TTYs equipped with Telebraille. AT&T has a toll-free number specifically designed for Telebraille users. Once you’ve accessed the number, you will find Communications Assistants who are familiar with deaf-blind users and trained to provide unique and effective solutions to your calling needs. To use Telebraille, Deaf-Blind customers should dial the Telebraille number at 1-800-855-2883.
Yes. If you set the EXPLAIN RELAY box to YES in your Relay Choice Profile, the Communications Assistant will explain how the relay service works to every person you call.
Calls made through AT&T Relay are confidential. AT&T, as required by law, will not disclose any information from your conversation, and no records of the conversation’s content are stored.
