Pay-Per-Call
Step-By-Step Instructions for Pay-Per-Call TTY Relay Calls
- Dial 711 or any 800 number for AT&T Relay Service.
- You will see the following message on your display screen: "RC NBR CALLING PLS GA."
- Type the 900 area code plus the telephone number you are calling. If you are calling a service with an interactive menu with which you’re familiar, type in the prompts you want followed then type "GA."
- You will connect to a Communications Assistant who will place your call and inform you whether the call has been answered by a hearing person or a pre-recorded message.
- The Communications Assistant will relay the Pay-Per-Call service’s pre-amble. The pre-amble is a pre-set message, required by federal and state regulations, to inform you of any charges that result from use of their service. Typically, the pre-amble is 10-20 seconds long and it is always free of charge. After listening to the pre-amble, decide whether to continue the call and pay the charges, or disconnect. Upon continuing, direct billing from the Pay-Per-Call Service is assessed; no alternate billing options are available.
- If you continue your call and accept the Pay-Per-Call charges, the Communications Assistant will relay it in one of the following ways:
- If answered live, the Communications Assistant will relay the call as described for Standard TTY Relay Calls.
- If answered by a recording, the Communications Assistant will relay the contents of the recording.
- If answered by a menu recording, the Communications Assistant will relay the prompt options.
- Follow the Step-By-Step Instructions for Standard TTY Relay Calls.
- Continue this process throughout the duration of your call. When you are ready to hang up, type "SK" then hang up.
Note: If you create a Relay Choice Profile, you can set it up to block 900 and other pay-per-call services from calling from your telephone number.
Important: AT&T is not responsible for the charges assessed from providers of 900 and other pay-per-call services.
