Step-By-Step Instructions for TTY to TTY Relay Calls
There are 3 ways for a TTY user to connect to another TTY user:
- Dial the other TTY user’s number directly. TTY users can connect and type to each other without assistance from a Communications Assistant.
- Dial 711 or 1-800-885-2880 if you are calling a person who uses both a TTY and a standard phone. If the person answers by phone, the Communications Assistant will relay the call. If the person answers by TTY, the Communications Assistant will connect you directly then release the call.
- Dial 1-800-855-1155 to connect to AT&T Operator Services for the Deaf (OSD). AT&T OSD is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide assistance when you are having difficulty placing a call to another TTY user; or when you want to bill your TTY-to-TTY call collect, third party, person-to-person, or to a calling card or major credit card. You can also call OSD for Directory Assistance. Like all operator-assisted calls, you will be charged for OSD service; feel free to ask the AT&T Operator for rates and conditions before making your call.
